How should a change in the color of the sidewalls of a glass melting furnace be addressed?

During routine inspections of the glass melting furnace, any discoloration of the furnace sidewalls—such as turning red or white—requires immediate attention.
1. If the walls turn red, check the cooling airflow; specifically, inspect the cooling fans and clear any obstructions in the cooling air ducts to ensure an adequate supply of cooling air.
2. If the walls turn white, it indicates severe erosion and a reduction in wall thickness. This situation must be reported to company management and the production department; the production department is responsible for addressing the issue, typically by installing reinforcement bricks (patching).

3. The general procedure for brick binding is as follows:
(1) Pre-binding preparation: Place two clay bricks underneath the required bricks and position the assembly on the partition wall of the regenerator chamber; cover with refractory wool and preheat for at least 7 days to ensure the moisture within the bricks is fully driven off.
(2) Modification of the upper buckstays on the tank wall: Prepare angle iron components of the appropriate size and specifications in advance; drill two 35mm-diameter holes in the vertical columns near the binding location to accommodate the installation of nuts and jacking screws during the binding process.

(3) Brick-binding Operation
1) The brick-binding process must be carried out sequentially.
2) Construction Procedure
a. Prepare the compressed air gun and water gun for use.
b. Weld M36 nuts onto the two 35mm-diameter holes on the vertical column; then, install two M36×860mm threaded rods (jacking screws) to secure the upper section of the tank wall's guard rail.
c. Cut the old guard rail between the two jacking screws. Temporarily reinforce the bricks on the side where the guard rail is to be removed—every single brick must be secured. Remove the section of the old guard rail at the brick-binding location, weld on the jacking screw frame, bind the bricks, and then reinstall the rail; also, remove the air duct at the brick-binding location.

d. Use an iron bar to brace against the existing tank wall bricks, then remove the corresponding clay insulation bricks.
e. Clean the surfaces of the tank wall bricks and the top surfaces of the insulation bricks by blowing away any debris.
f. Position the binding bricks so they are in tight contact with the tank wall bricks and the brick joints are aligned. Place two steel plates (185 mm × 100 mm × 12 mm) on the top surface of the insulation bricks; if the surface is uneven, use steel shims to level it before laying the outer layer of clay insulation bricks.
g. Use an iron bar to brace the binding bricks, then install the iron grate to temporarily secure them.
h. Repeat steps d through g until the binding brick installation is fully completed.
i. Install the new tank wall retaining bars and remove the temporary reinforcements; reposition the tank wall air duct to its original height and angle, then reconnect the cooling air supply.
